Creating Promising Futures

Principal Message

PrincipalRainier Principal, Joshua Rockey

Joshua Rockey

Welcome back, Rainier Panthers!

As I begin my second year as principal at Rainier Elementary, I am even more grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible school community. Last year gave me the chance to learn from our students, staff, and families and to better understand what makes Rainier such a special place. I am excited to build on that foundation as we begin the 2026–2027 school year.

At Rainier, we want every student to know they belong, to receive strong grade-level instruction, and to have the support or challenge they need to grow. We believe students are most successful when school and family work together, and we are committed to creating a welcoming, caring, and inclusive environment for every Panther.

Whether your family has been part of Rainier for years or you are joining us for the first time, we are glad you are here.

Meet and Greet

Please join us for our Rainier Meet and Greet on Monday, August 31st from 4:00–6:00 PM.

This is an informal opportunity for students and families to meet teachers, visit classrooms, become familiar with the school, and reconnect with our Panther community before the first day.

First Days of School

The first day of school for students in 1st through 5th grade is Wednesday, September 2nd.

The first day of school for kindergarten students is Tuesday, September 8th.

We are excited to welcome our students back into the building and begin another year of learning, growth, and connection.

Proud Panthers

At Rainier, we work together to create a school where everyone can learn, feel safe, and belong. Our Proud Panther expectations help guide us each day:

Be Safe.
Be Respectful.
Be Responsible.

These expectations are more than words. They help us build the kind of school community where students take care of themselves, take care of one another, and take pride in being a Panther.

Every Day Counts

Regular attendance is one of the most important ways families can support student success. Every day at school provides opportunities for students to learn, build relationships, develop confidence, and participate fully in their classroom community.

Great things happen when our Panthers are here!

Better Together

Strong schools are built through strong partnerships. We value our families and appreciate your communication, involvement, and support throughout the year.

It is a privilege to serve as principal of Rainier Elementary. I am proud of our students, staff, and families, and excited for what we will accomplish together this year.

Be Safe. Be Respectful. Be Responsible.

Go Panthers!
