Conferences and Thanksgiving Break in November… the end of the First Trimester and Winter Break in December… These months are full of school events and holiday plans which make the days seem to pass so quickly!

K – 1st:  Students continue to gain confidence as they develop and strengthen various movement/control of the mouse using selected web sites:

Kinder students will continue in the main computer classroom and start the beginning process of logging onto the CPSD computer system.  They will have an I.D. tag to reference their 6-digit student number and enter that number into the User Name section of the login box.

1st graders will begin basic typing skills on a site called Keyboarding Zoo.  The focus will be to familiarize themselves with the keyboard layout.  Other activities on the ABCYa  website will support math and reading competencies.  http://www.abcya.com/

A second website we will utilize for typing will be Typetastic; https://typetastic.com/

2nd – 5thStudents are progressing through lessons on Typing Club.  2nd grade students are focused on Right-hand / Left-hand keystroke correlation and using Jungle Junior for their lessons.  Students in 3rd – 5th grades use Typing Jungle lessons and “cover rags” to encourage touch typing.  Letters explaining home access of the program were distributed during November conferences.  A fun and academic website for students to access from home is Cool Math.  The games provide challenges to students’ perspectives and skills in logic and mathematical thinking.   The site hosts a vast number of games pertaining to pre-algebra, algebra, and calculus… stimulating fun for the entire family!  http://www.coolmath-games.com/
